General Douglas MacArthur has a memorial marker here in Cagayan de Oro City located at the Macabalan wharf. It is dedicated to the landing of General Douglas MacArthur and party on March 13, 1942, after their heroic escape from Correigidor on four PT Boats in the evening of March 11, 1942, upon repeated orders of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. They were met at the Old Pier by Filipino-American troops under Brigidair General William F. Sharp, Commander of the Visayan-Mindanao Forces.
You can visit the marker anytime of the day with no entrance fee. You can park your vehicle inside upon requesting to open the gate.
