PXC Laban MMA Fires up Cagayan de Oro’s Higalaay Festival 2016

Pacific X-treme Combat’s provincial developmental league, Laban MMA, goes down south as it delivers its trademark intense and frenzied mixed martial arts action in Cagayan de Oro as one of the official events that celebrate the city’s Higalaay Festival 2016.

Set to explode on August 27 at The Atrium, Limketkai Center, PXC Laban MMA CDO will treat Kagay-anons to a slam-bang Saturday evening as CDO’s very own 31-year-old Israel B. Gomez of Team MUMMA, goes for  win against dangerous 19-year-old Jerome Pa-ac who’s coming all the way from Baguio City to represent the much-heralded Team Lakay. Sharing co-main event honors is the matchup between another hometown hero, Victor Torre of Team MUMMA/Gladiator MMA, and Marcelo Cabusas of Makati City representing Team Insider Manila.

Laban MMA CDO marks the first time PXC’s developmental league has gone to Mindanao to stage its eagerly awaited fights that feature up-and-coming local fighters who could one day join the pro ranks, win the championship belt, and even go to the bigger MMA stage. Most of Laban MMA’s offerings were held in Baguio in Northern Luzon. But a strong demand for MMA fights exist in The City of Golden Friendship that PXC finally decided to bring their Laban MMA to Cagayan de Oro City. And there’s no better time to do that than during Cagayan de Oro’s Higalaay Festival 2016 that celebrates the feast day of St. Augustine, the patron saint of the city. Thus, PXC Laban MMA CDO is another big event that Kagay-anons can look forward to, alongside the Kumbira Culinary Show, the Carnival Parade, The Higalas Parade of Floats and Icons, the Fluvial Procession, and the Higalaay Pyrolympics that define the biggest festivities of the city.

Aside from the co-main events that highlight Laban MMA CDO, eight other matches are also on offer to complete the stacked and exciting card. The event begins with Bo’s MMA Academy’s Adrian Antipasado from Bukidon taking on Jessie Paul Del Valle of Davao City fighting out of the Phyton’s Pit Davao. Then it’s the pair of Iloilo’s James Daquil of Navy/MUMMA Gym and AXC’s Mark Gil Germones of Davao City taking center stage. Fight 3 features Team My Gym’s Fredrick Lim Jr. from Dumaguete City tangling with Project-X MMA Cebu’s Paul Carere of Mandaue City. Another homegrown talent, CDO’s Lorde Rey Yamit is up next, facing Camotes Island native Roel Rosauro coming out of Team Yaw-Yan Ardigma to Fight Davao City’s Marlon Cruzpero of AXC going head to head with General Santos City’s Jerry Eslao representing Team MUMMA Gen. Santos City. Another CDO fighter gets in the ring next, Renato Jabiniao of Team MUMMA, to match skills with Davao City’s Rogelio Enumerables, who fights out of Team Combat 360 Dojo. Fight 7 showcases Rudy Tacogue from Davao City and the Team Valiant Strikers against Dumaguete City’s Rendel Camensi from Team My Gym. The last supporting bout has Davao City and AXC’s Ruben Lanaza trading vicious strikes with Team Project-X MMA Cebu’s Arnel Ylanan.

Local gym partner is Mindanao Ultimate Mixed Martial Arts Gym. Ticketing partners are SM Tickets and Limketkai Center. Matches start at 8 PM, gates open at 6 PM.

PXC Laban MMA CDO is organized for the benefit of the Rotaract-Rotary Club Partner of West Cagayan de Oro. For more info and updates you can visit their Laban MMA Facebook page, or you can follow them on Instagram @pxclabanmma.
