Cinemagis 7 Digital Short Film Fest

Cinemagis 7 was officially launched yesterday (January 21, 2014) at the SM City CDO event center. Cinemagis is on its 7th year, the Northern Mindanao’s Digital Short Film Fest by the Xavier Center for Culture and the Arts (XCCA) of Xavier University, Ateneo de Cagayan. The event was attended by the award winning Brilliante Mendoza.

The admission to the screening venues is FREE and only requires you to bring personal care items like soap, toothpaste and sanitary napkins for donation to the Typhoon Seniang victims at Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental last year end.

Boses – An indie film worth seeing

CDOPlaces.com had a chance to be invited of an advance viewing of Boses here in Cagayan de Oro City at the Xavier University Little Theater. This indie film movie will be its first time to be screen here in our city on August 27 at the Centrio mall cinema exclusively for XU students and on September 6,9,10,11,12 for the public viewing. The show will start at 8am to 10am and 11am to 1pm at the Ayala Centrio Mall on the dates above.

Boses is a moving tale revolving around a gifted boy made mute by unbearable experiences and his emotionally-damaged violinist-mentor as they find their voice through the redemptive and healing powers of music and friendship.

It is an ERASMO FILMS Production in cooperation with UNICEF, CASA SAN MIGUEL, DSWD Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC), National Commssion on Culture and the Arts, Film Development Council of the Philippines.

The movie stars Ricky Davao, Cherry Pie Picache, Meryll Soriano. Directed by the award winning Ellen Ongkeko-Marfil who personally brought the original dvd copy of the movie at the XU little theater and answer some questions about the movie after the showing.

It has won several awards namely the Golden Screen Awards 2008: best film, direction, screenplay, actor, music; Gawad Tanglaw Awards 2008: best film, direction, screenplay; Star Awards 2008: best child actor, music score Urian Awards 2008: nomination in all major categories.

It has competed and exhibited in various festivals, schools and communities locally and abroad: New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Hawaii, Vancouver, India, Korea, Hongkong, Geneva, Yale University, Zuric, Madrid, University of Alberta, UP, FEU, Assumption, Ateneo.

This is a must see movie which will be shown in our city for the first time brought to you by Diri Husi Initiative, Xavier University and Stream Foundation. Checkout the thriller below.
